The sa(m)myn Dai comperit in the Courte thom±forman
and allegit that noght~ lang syne he boght~ fra (j)ohn~±Smot
of Edynburgh~ a pruys(s) last of quhete to be deliu(er)it with~
the mesur(e) of Scotland oute of stephin±lechis schip in
Rattre or ab(er)dene or leith~ quhar(e) it suld happin the said schip
to arrive and loss(s) the said thomas payand for ilke boll~
iiij±s~ of scott(is) monay in part of the payment
of the±quhilk monay the said (j)ohn~±Smot suld ressaue fra
thom a hors the p(ri)ce of iiij±lib~ and askit at the Ald(er)man
and the balyheis thai" wald arrest til his instance the said
quhete sen the said schip lossis heir(e) and the
said (j)ohn~±smot is absent And the said thomas broght~
to p(re)ve the said m(er)chandis(s) as witnes (j)ohn~\±collane and (j)ohn~±boutstar(e)
m(er)chand(is) of the said schip the±quhilk(is) the grete ath~
sworne avisitly deponit that thai warr(e) by herd and saw
quhen the forsaid thomas boght~ and the said (j)ohn~ sald the said
quhete the boll for iiij±s~ or for iiij±s~ vj±d thai reme(m)bre
noght~ quhethir(e) and at the said thomas said that he had
his godd(is)±pe(n)ny" in his purs(s) and p(er)offerit to
pay him for the quhete furth~±with~ And yhet the said
thomas p(er)offerit he him redy to mak the said payment
and said sen the said quhete is heir(e) in the toune it
aucht noght~ to be analyt quhill he had of it at
law wald and that he strekit be a borch~
